OPTIMIZATION OF BIOMASS PRODUCTION OF Spirulina platensis IN SEAWATER MEDIUM

چکیده
Spirulina platensis is one of the most potential sources of natural nutrition. The present study was aimed to optimize the parameters like nitrogen sources, pH, temperature and light intensity for increasing the production of Spirulina platensis biomass (dry weight), protein, lipid and chlorophyll-a in seawater medium. The production of Spirulina platensis was optimized in terms of biomass and their biochemical constituents. Among the different nitrogen sources, sodium nitrate recorded higher biomass (0.380 mg ml -1 ), protein (0.221 mg ml -1 ), lipid (36.02 μg ml -1 ) and chlorophyll-a (34.28 μg ml -1 ) in Spirulina platensis (SP2). The dry weight of Spirulina platensis (SP2) (0.318, 0.306 mg ml -1 ), protein (0.177, 0.170 mg ml -1 ), lipid (29.08, 26.74 μg ml -1 ) and chlorophyll-a (27.45, 25.68 μg ml -1 ) were recorded at pH (9.0) and temperature (35 ̊C), respectively. Spirulina platensis (SP2) showed higher biomass (0.317 mg ml -1 ), protein (0.180 mg ml -1 ), lipid (28.64 μg ml -1 ) and chlorophyll-a (26.60 μg ml -1 ) at 5 Klux light intensity. The results of present investigation revealed the optimized parameters in seawater medium exhibited higher yield of Spirulina platensis (SP2) and used for commercial cultivation at low cost. Optimization of light conditions by affecting the growth and production of C-Phycocyanin in Spirulina platensis microalgae
Spirulina microalgae are a rich source of protein and valuable biological compounds. One of the most important Spirulina microalgae pigments is phycocyanin. Phycocyanin is widely used in industries as a natural blue pigment and it’s also an effective antioxidant. In order to improve phycocyanin production as well as Spirulina growth, by autotrophic cultivation considering that autotrophic culti...

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of tofu wastewater (TW) addition to the growth medium on the growth of Spirulina platensis. The TW addition was varied in range of 0 – 8 %v/v. The results showed that the growth rate (μ) of S. platensis at TW addition of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 %v/v was 0.007, 0.084, 0.074, 0.088, 0.086 mg/L/d, respectively. The medium with TW content of 6 %v/v (carbon:n...
